[VIDEO/TEXT] ☠ Heartful Cry
[ FILTERED TO ALL THE TROLLS, EXCEPT GAMZEE, AND MINATO + MINAKO ARISATO ;; UNHACKABLE ]
[ The video feed clicks on, and all that can be seen is a dark alleyway. The SFC is covered in black and blue, and slightly cracked. It was damaged during a scuffle, one he barely got out of alive. All that can be heard are muffled, quiet sobs.
After a few minutes, Ryoji composes himself. His arm had been injured, and it was painful to breathe right now. Around his neck was a deep, red mark, from his own scarf, which was gone (currently on a psychotic killer clown), and he had cuts all over. Everything was bleeding pretty badly, including a hit he got from a club to the skull which broke the skin. Luckily, being as resilient as he is, it hasn't cracked his head open. Still, black blood was coming from him at this point.
Anyone who'd enter the alleyway he'd found himself at would notice a trail of blue and black. He... was afraid, that at any moment, Gamzee would come back to follow him. But he hadn't stuck around when he got ahold of Vriska's body and slipped his scarf to know if he'd chased him; he just got out of there as fast as his human form's legs would carry him. He was too exhausted to even change to his Thanatos form at this point, so he couldn't do anything about it.
Finally, after a little while, the cracked SFC's feed cuts and a text appears: ]
....... i... minato. are you awake?
the rest of you... G-Gamzee-san. hes... hes lost it. hes gone crazy. he attacked me, and... Vriska is... shes...... i dont... think i can... please... be careful.
[ And with that, the message ends. ]
(( OOC: Dated to about nine or so minutes after this log, and these threads, which aren't FINISHED yet, but yeah. Posting this early. Also, yes, please, only Minato is going to find him; so IM or Plurk me if you really want to respond/want in. Akihiko, obviously, can jump in if he wants later, same with Minako, when Ryoji is probably brought back to the dorms... eventually. ))
[2/2 - Video]
Text is too informal, though from the marks he can guess why Ryoji used it. Those markings...around his neck--and the lack of a scarf. None of it misses Minato's attention, not with how intently he had been watching that video delivered to him.
But he needs to reassure Ryoji, to speak with him, to do something until he can get to where he is, so he is moving even as he clicks on the video feed. His voice is calm--if cold, steely--and his expression is near unreadable. He has to stay calm, for Ryoji's sake, and that...that is something he can do.
For Ryoji.]
Ryoji. I'm right here. Where are you?
[A slight pause and he shakes his head.]
Don't talk. Text me your location, alright?
[text - filtered to Minato]
I'll be right there.
[And what he wouldn't give for Fuuka to be able to tell him right where Ryoji is so he wouldn't have any sort of delay--that option isn't there, and so he disregards that and does something more productive, grabbing a sword after a moment's thought and then hurrying out the door.
...He doesn't want to ask, not yet. It isn't important what happened; he can guess from the information that was given. At the same time, he doesn't want to cut the line, because most important right now? The contact. And so he repeats himself, quietly, as he runs to the carnival and begins to search through alleys.]
I'll be right there.
[Action!]
Within view of the blood all over the ticket booth, and where everyone there had died.
There's no words, no sounds... but if you listen closely, you can probably hear quiet sobbing. The same as what's coming from the communicator. ]
[Action forever and ever][1/2]
The video was truly no preparation for the sight he is confronted with, and he pauses for a moment, eyes widening.
A whisper--]
Ryoji...
[2/2]
He steps closer and then he kneels beside him, heedless of the blood coating his pants.
And he reaches out with a hand, reaches out to Ryoji's shoulder.]
...I'm here.
[...A glance to Vriska. He...can tell when someone is dead, and it hurts; he was just serving her that odd troll drink just a few weeks ago, wasn't he? She had mentioned sailing the seas, and the excitement she had for exploring had been clear.
...He can only imagine how Ryoji must be feeling, having been even closer. ...It's a similar feeling to when Shinjiro-senpai died, only this...troll or not, she was clearly young.
...Whoever had done this--Gamzee--would get what was coming to him. But for now...he simply reaches out to his friend, to provide the support the other clearly needs.]
[1/?]
[2/?]
He can't hide the actual fear he is feeling, for the first time in his short life, at something. Fear he has... never experienced.
Fear of dying. ]
[3/?]
... Blood. Or... whatever it is he has for it. ]
[4/5] /uses this icon forever
C... can... yo... u... save her...?
[5/5] annnd done :D
Too... late.
[ He was too late. He couldn't save her. ... And with that, he simply clings to his friends, and... cries, somewhat hysterical, because he doesn't know what else to do. ]
[1/3]
...She is dead. It...is so clear. And his mind flashes back to Naoki's failed attempt to save the dead native of Vatheon; how the spell hadn't worked at all. Not a single effect.
...He doesn't want to give Ryoji false hope. And he doesn't...believe he can save her, not now. He doesn't think that it works the same way in this world.
But...can he truly leave it at that? Without giving it a single try? A breath--he reaches for his Evoker.]
...I'll try.
[2/3]
He pulls the trigger, and what isn't glass shatters, and Hariti appears, casting Samarecarm.
She disappears silently, and Minato is also silent as nothing happens. Vriska doesn't move.
...He isn't surprised, but that doesn't mean he isn't disappointed at his failure.]
[3/3]
His arm is still around Ryoji; now he simply brings his head closer, tightening his grip slightly, mindful still of the other's injuries.]
...I'm sorry. I...can't.
[1/2]
Hoping.
Pleading that it will work. ]
[2/2]
Of course it doesn't.
He of all people should recognize when the last light of life has left. So he simply clings to Minato, muffled, choked, strained sobs escaping his lips, which are stained with black.
What can be discerned in between is a barely audible noise; ]
... Why?
no subject
And he closes his eyes and takes a deep, silent breath. He has to be strong. For Ryoji. He can do that...surely.
...why. Why why why why why. Why can't he successfully save her?]
...I don't know.
[Why did she have to die? Why did this happen? He doesn't know.
...But there are more pressing concerns, not that he has to force Ryoji to stir for this. After his...failure with Vriska, of course, he pauses, staring down at the silvery Evoker, smeared with black and blue blood already. ...Can he even really help Ryoji? Not as much as he'd like to; sometimes it is...so clear how little he can do.
But what he can do he will. And so, still supporting the other, arm still around Ryoji's shoulder, he lifts the Evoker again, firing without hesitation, calling on Hariti again to cast Diarahan on Ryoji.
He...can only hope it will help even that little bit. That's...all he can really ask.]
no subject
Heh.
Minato... at least he'd tried. Ryoji... manages to let go of his friend, wincing. Gamzee had run into him with his elbow earlier and somehow he'd either really bruised his ribs during the scuffle, or... he'd broken one of them. But the outer wounds were... beginning to stop bleeding, at least.
And he did feel somewhat better, physically. But... none of that was going to help him with the reality of things: Vriska was dead. Gone. For good.
... His throat still hurt, from nearly strangling to death. And the marks all remained. But... he could speak a little easier, at least. Breathing was still hard. ]
I... it's all my fault... I couldn't stop him.
no subject
Trying wasn't good enough, and neither was physical healing; Minato is aware of that very well. But it is necessary. Ryoji...Ryoji's health and well-being is far more important than revenge of any sort, and while he is concerned for the safety of the others in Vatheon, he recognizes his limits.
His place is here, right now. He has to have faith in the others to be able to take care of Gamzee. It...is a bitter thought, knowing he can't make Gamzee pay for...for this, but what good does a cycle of revenge do? And regrets...regrets do nothing either.
He recognizes the regrets now and looks at Ryoji sadly.]
...This isn't your fault. There...will always be something we can't stop. You came here to try, but...
[...heh. Nyx is impossible not to think of in this situation, huh? In this situation of death and finality and helplessness. He closes his eyes and takes a breath.]
Do you think she would blame you?
no subject
N... no.
[ ... What has him the most hurt over this... ]
He... he had absolutely no right to decide it was her time.
no subject
No...he didn't. It was not fair.
[...It's isn't fair. None of this is fair. And it can't be changed.
...He will sit out here with you forever if you so please, Ryoji, but he knows that they can't literally stay here. There are injuries to be treated, clothes and hair to be cleaned.
...A scarf--
He reaches out again.]
Ryoji...we shouldn't stay here.
[Of course, the implications of that statement are clear. They shouldn't; he's concerned, yes. About Gamzee and Ryoji's injuries, and staying there will do nothing. At the same time...if Ryoji needs to stay, he will stay as well. It is far from a command.]
no subject
R... right.
[ And slowly, he stumbles up, almost falling over, but catching himself on Minato, using his friend for support. ;; Sorry bff, but he is not in such great shape. ]
no subject
...He...doesn't want Ryoji to talk, not with that damage done to his neck. At the same time, a walk in silence...would simply allow the other to dwell on things.
So he takes a slow breath. It's not a guarantee but...it's better than nothing, right?]
Are you familiar with Red-kun?
[He clearly isn't really expecting a verbal answer, because he tilts his head to look at the other. No talking, bro. :c]
no subject
And now he wonders why they'd never really met before. ]
no subject
Red-kun has been here for nearly nine months, if I recall correctly. And...something he has learned in his time in Vatheon is that--
[Is it wrong of him? To give Ryoji false hope, in the instance that it isn't true? But Red had proof-- ...and he would do anything to bring Ryoji closer to a smile.]
People who have died in this world generally come back to life.
